OWNER SINCE: 2007. I shared an ownership interest with my mother when she moved here. Later, that was consolidated to a sole owner interest.
WHY: I’ve lived and traveled across the country and around the world. I’ve seen the patterns which make neighborhoods vibrant – patterns which are consistent, no matter the “where” or “who.’ I’ve been a working member on many high-producing community boards, from large art events to managing a university’s appetite for a bigger footprint, or from creating an urban sustainability governance model to delivering literacy education to reentry citizens. I’ve worked for a variety of municipal and government departments, from public health to public works. This variety, involving different groups and locations, has a lot to offer in terms of offering successful and tested working models, processes and tactics to experiment with.
GOALS: In the big picture, I want to help the association build capacity, with strong operational systems which support the community’s goals, whatever they are and as they change over time. My background as a process and policy analyst will contribute developed, demonstrated skills toward this goal.
At a mid level, I’m interested in creating a resilient community, in every way we might mean that – economic durability, sustained condition of our homes, robust strength in our partnership.
In the small picture, I love place design and implementation. I have designed many yards, neighborhood streets, home interiors: it’s the part of a project which I always love most. I have been fantasizing about transforming our small patches of ground into a beautiful oasis. My background in permaculture and sustainability lend some skills for this.
